The Story
The photo used to make up this print features a sampan bringing some sailors ashore in the Causeway Bay Typhoon Shelter in Hong Kong on July 26, 2014. Typhoon shelters are ubiquitous to Hong Kong. In essence, they are small protective harbours effective against the ravages of high seas rather than strong winds. The sampan featured in this photo is a typical form of water craft used to ferry people and goods around these typhoon shelters. Made of wood, these sampans are based on traditional junk designs and powered by a diesel engine.
Printing
All prints offered for sale from this site are paper based. The prints are made using the Lambda C printing process, a process whereby a digital image is projected onto some form of chromogenic photo-sensitive media – be this paper, canvas, metal or acrylic – via three [RGB] laser beams. The media is then run through a wet chemical process to render the final print. We offer either a matt or glossy photo finish. Each print has a 1 centimetre white boarder around it. We do not offer framing or mounting.
At this time we do not offer prints using ink-jet printing technologies. Simply put, our digital workflow has been optimised to use Lambda C printing process technologies. Our printers use Fuji’s Photo Crystal papers. By archival standards, Fuji papers are on par with the best art papers used to make ink-jet prints. While we do not usually sign our prints, each print comes with its own signed Certificate of Authenticity.
