The photo used in making up this print features two men in conversation over lunch at a dai-paai-dong (a traditional and informal outdoor eatery) just off Graham Street in Central, Hong Kong. They may be travellers. They may be business men. Short of asking, I have no real way of knowing. While walking through this area I was compelled to stop. For a bright day and with the large and colourful umbrellas up, the lighting was fantastic. The place was busy, things were happening, people were passing by. What to do and what to frame and how to frame, were my main concerns here and in this moment. A matter of finding a pattern, finding some sort of order in this chaos. In the process, I kind of settled on these two gentlemen and made this image. Again, much only becomes apparent in the post-processing of my images – as in becoming fully aware of what it is that I’ve captured. Here I am referring to the balance of elements, the things that lend themselves to a composition of sorts – like the line-up of blue stools, of the people standing, the people sitting, the line up of colour across the top of the images. Perhaps my brain works faster than I am ever cognisant of the process. Just a thought.
All prints offered for sale from this site are paper based. The prints are made using the Lambda C printing process, a process whereby a digital image is projected onto some form of chromogenic photo-sensitive media via three [RGB] laser beams. The media is then run through a wet chemical process to render the final print. We offer either a matt or glossy photo finish. Each print has a 1 centimetre white boarder around it. We do not offer framing or mounting.
At this time we do not offer prints using ink-jet printing technologies. Simply put, our digital workflow has been optimised to use Lambda C printing process technologies. Our printers use Fuji’s Photo Crystal papers. By archival standards, Fuji papers are on par with the best art papers used to make ink-jet prints. While we do not usually sign our prints, each print comes with its own signed Certificate of Authenticity.
